India will not bid for Asian Games

After seeing the present pathetic conditions of the Commonwealth Games and its mismanagement, the government has decided to not to take any more opportunities to host such games of larger scale. The government has decided that it will not try to hold Asian Games in 2019, as it has turned down the Indian Olympic Association’s (IOA) bid for 2019 Asian Games.
The government was more concerned about the corruption surrounding the Games. Already the budget for the 2010 Games has soared by 17 times and there are reports of financial bungling in the CWG projects. This has been very embarrassing to the authorities.
After the 1982 Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games are supposed to be the biggest sporting extravaganza to come to India. But the preparations have been lagging behind with only around two months for the athletes from 71 nations to land here.
