New Delhi:  Amid allegations of corruption surrounding the Commonwealth Games, the government has turned down Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) bid for 2019 Asian Games.

The government was worried about the corruption surrounding the Games.

The budget for the 2010 Games has gone up by 17 times with allegations of financial bungling in the CWG projects, leaving the authorities red-faced.

The Commonwealth Games were meant to be the biggest sporting extravaganza to come to India after the 1982 Asian Games but the preparations have been shockingly lax with little over two months left before athletes from 71 nations land here.

The 2010 Asian Games are scheduled to take place in Guangzhou, China from November 12-27.
