Kazakh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Kairat Lama Sharif organized a reception dedicated to upcoming ceremony of lighting and handing over of flame for the Asian Games - 2011 in Al-Kuwait, the press service of the Embassy reports.
A Kazakh delegation headed by Minister of Tourism and Sport Temirkhan Dosmukhanbetov, representatives of the Olympic Council of Asia as well as foreign diplomatic corpse accredited to Kuwait took part in the reception.
Addressing the guests T.Dosmukhanbetov has noted that holding of the Winter Games is a unique historic event for Kazakhstan and will become an inseparable part of the independent state's history. The Minister thanked the Olympic Council of Asia for the efforts on strengthening the sport contacts between Kazakhstan and Kuwait and rendered assistance in preparation of the Asian Winter Games.
T.Dosmukhanbetov also said that he was satisfied with the dynamics of bilateral relations development between Kazakhstan and Kuwait the base of which was founded by President N.Nazarbayev during his official visit to Al-Kuwait in 1997. He expressed assurance that the first official visit of Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Astana scheduled for this year would become an important event in the history of relations of the two states and raise it to a new level.
President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in his turn complimented the preparation process of Kazakhstan to holding of the VII Asian Winter Games.
As earlier reported, in May, 2007 the President of the Olympic Council of Asia awarded President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev the highest award of the Council for his contribution to sport development in the Asian continent.
