China's Li Ping sets world record at Asian Games

China's Li Ping set a world record Sunday to win the women's 53-kilogram weightlifting division at the Asian Games.

Li broke an eight-year-old record when she lifted 103 kilograms in the snatch, then lifted 127 in the clean and jerk to earn the world record total of 230 kilograms.

Qiu Hongxia, also from China, set the previous world record of 226 kilograms in 2006.
Li's world record effort has helped China to dominate the weightlifting event at the Asian Games, with four gold from four finals in the competition so far at Guangzhou.
