Chinese and overseas media visit Asian Games Town

The block mold of the Asian Games Town

The Main Media Centre (MMC)
Located in southern Guangzhou, the Asian Games Town consists of seven major zones, including the Athletes' Village, Technical Officials' Village, Media Village, MMC, Venues Zone, Asian Games Park (where the venue for Beach Volleyball is situated) and Logistics and Services Zone, covering an area of 2.73km2. The Asian Games Town will be transformed into a modern community after the Games.
The reporters first visited the MMC and were briefed by Ruan Tao, Executive Deputy Director of the MMC. The building comprises the Main Press Centre (MPC) and the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC). The MPC is on Level 1 and is where journalists, photographers and non-rights-holding broadcasters will work. The IBC is located on Level 2, 3 and 4 and will be the work venue for the Host Broadcaster and Rights-Holding Broadcasters. All the facilities in the MMC are ready now, according to Ruan. It will conduct trial operation from October 20 to 27 and officially open on November 1. In Games time, it will receive some 10,000 accredited journalists and provide information, network and transport services for them.
Then the group toured around the Athletes' Village, Media Village and Asian Games Town Gymnasium. The Athletes' Village and Media Village are built with distinctive characteristics of Lingna gardens in South China. The Asian Games Town Gymnasium consists of venues for Gymnastics, Billiard Sports and Squash as well as the Guangzhou Asian Games History Museum.
