Bike tryouts to continue

THE series of tryouts which will determine the composition of the national cycling team to the 16th Asian Games will push through despite a change in leadership in one of the warring factions of the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines.
Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who heads the Union Cycliste Internationale-recognized group of cyclists, made this assurance after learning that the rival faction recognized by the Philippine Olympic Committee has ousted its head, Col. Arnold Taberdo last June 26.
“Tuloy ang tryouts. We are doing this in good faith. Why? Is the leadership part of the unification tryouts?” asked Tolentino.
The tryouts will begin with road races which be held inside the Subic Bay Freeport on July 9.
Secretary general Armando Bautista of the POC-recognized group said Taberdo was replaced by Ramon “Loy” Cruz, for allegedly withholding details of their talks with the POC. Peter Atencio
