Asian teams to contend in traditional boxing for SEA Games

Ten male teams and seven female teams from across the region will participate in traditional Myanmar boxing event for the 27th South East Asian Games, according to Myanmar Boxing Federation.
Ten Asian countries, except Brunei, will compete in the mens competition. The female competition will see boxers from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, East Timor duke it out inside the ring.

Boxing is a traditional sport in Myanmar and the country has long participated in the international boxing events.
Five male and six female boxers participated in a one-month training in China between  June and July. Another team travelled to Kazakhstan in May for an 8-week intensive training.
A ceremony to vote for competition schedules will be held at the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw on December 8th.
Since Myanmar won a gold medal in the 1983 SEA Games, it has only win silver medals in boxing events.
The national side aims to achieve more medals in the upcoming Games to be hosted in Nay Pyi Taw, as well as Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach from December 11 to 22 this year.
