GUANGZHOU (China): South Korea won both the team and individual gold medals in the men's 25m Standard Pistol event of the Asian Games shooting competition on Wednesday.

Hong Seong-Hwan shot a 575 to take the individual title ahead of Kim Jong-Su of North Korea, who finished on 573 at the Aoti shooting ranges.

Jin Yongde of China picked up the bronze after a shoot-off when four competitors finished level on 570 points.

The Korean squad of Hong, Jang Daek-Yu and Hwang Yoon-Sam beat China by one point to win the team event.

North Korea finished third. Hong said he was not surprised at winning both gold medals in the event.

"We live, eat, sleep and train together for almost 250 days in a year," he said. "We unite well and everyone works hard in training.

"I am satisfied with what I have achieved and will train harder to improve my shooting."

North Korean Kim blamed the weather for his failure to win gold.

"The cold and windy weather affected me a lot," he said. "I usually shoot more than 580, so this was not very good."

South Korea took their gold medal tally to 10 from 25 shooting events. China have 13 golds and North Korea and Kazakhstan one each.
