Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM held in Oman

Muscat, Oman, July 12 - The Olympic Solidarity - Olympic Council of Asia Continental Forum (OS/OCA Continental Forum), Muscat 2010 Asian Beach Games Chefs de Mission Seminar (Muscat 2010 CDM Seminar) and Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games Pre-Delegation Registration Meeting (Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM) opened in Muscat, Oman on Monday (July 12), when the 16th Asian Games was 123 days to go.

Xu Ruisheng, Executive Deputy Secretary General of the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) and Vice Mayor of Guangzhou, headed a GAGOC delegation to participate in the Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM. Gu Shiyang, Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC and Guangzhou Municipal Government, also attended the opening ceremony.

The Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM is an important milestone in the lead-up to the Asian Games. It is a common practice to hold a pre-delegation registration meeting before an international sporting event for participating countries and regions to communicate with organisers and check information on event registration. On the occasion of the OS/OCA Continental Forum and Muscat 2010 CDM Seminar, GAGOC held the Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM, set up a Sports and Sport Entries Information Booth and showed delegates how to use its Electronic Accreditation System.

Zhang Jilong, Chairman of the OCA Sports Committee, hailed the significance of the Guangzhou 2010 Pre-DRM and believed Guangzhou is ready to stage a successful Asian Games this November.

H.E. Ali Bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, Oman's Minister of Sports Affairs and President of National Olympic Committee, visited GAGOC's Information Booth and enquired about the progress of sport entries for the Games. He gave his blessings to Guangzhou.

Delegates from different countries and regions were impressed by the Emblem and Mascots of the 16th Asian Games.

On Wednesday (July 14), GAGOC will give a presentation on preparations for the 2010 Asian Games at the OS/OCA Continental Forum.

Delegates from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), OCA, National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Asian countries and regions, and Muscat Asian Beach Games Organising Committee (MABGOC) also attended the opening ceremony of the meetings.
