Guangzhou, July 27 - As Guangdong Week at Expo 2010 Shanghai is to kick off from July 28 - August 1, officials from Guangdong Province and the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (GAGOC) travelled the Expo Park and briefed media on the Guangdong Week, November 12-27 Asian Games and the December 12-19 Asian Para Games during a press conference held at Expo Press Centre on July 27.
Officiating guests included Liu Xiaojie, Deputy Secretary General of People's Government of Guangdong Province, Deputy Director of Leading Group of Guangdong's Participation to Shanghai World Expo 2010, Xu Ruisheng, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal Government and Executive Deputy Secretary General of GAGOC, Chen Wenjie, President of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Sub-Council and Deputy Director of Leading Group of Guangdong's Participation to Shanghai World Expo 2010, and Fang Jianhong, Director of Department of Culture Guangdong Province.

Mr Xu gave a brief introduction to the preparations of the Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games, and announced that the two Games have headed into the final prep phase; a series of test events have been going on around the city and venuisation has been introduced now.
He also explained at the press event that the Guangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games feature a few highlights: it is an Asian Games that advocates equality and tolerance when it came to finalise the sports event programme; it is for the first time that Asian Games and Asian Para Games will be held in the same place at the same time; a brand new marketing development mode has been developed; Equestrian will make its debut in mainland China which also helps Guangzhou pave its way to host international equestrian events in the future and promote equestrian development in China.
During the Guangdong Week under the theme of "Thrilling Asian Games, Green Guangdong", GAGOC is to take this golden opportunity to promote the Games. As scheduled, there are a series of celebrations to be launched: Asian Games promotional activities at the opening ceremony of Guangdong Week, the Guangzhou Asian Games Mascots "Fun Fun" to visit Life & Sunshine Pavilion, the Guangzhou Asian Games Mascots "5 Yang" to land in the main shopping street Nanjing Lu of Shanghai, display of Asian Games Torch "The Tide", parade of Asian Games float.
In the end, Mr Xu invited all journalists and photographers to visit Guangzhou and cover the Guangzhou Asian Games in November and Asian Games in December.
