Baiyun Airport Poised To Benefit From 2010 Asian Games

June 28 -- Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (600004) is expected to record passenger throughput of 40 million in 2010 as the 16th Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou, reports Securities Times, citing Zhang Kejian, general manager of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport at the company's general shareholders' meeting.
According to Zhang, the terminals were designed to handle passenger throughput of 25 million a year.
Zhang added that the terminals are being reconstructed while plans to secure the safety of the airport were being carried out.
To meet the competition posed by high-speed railways, Zhang said that Baiyun Airport plans to increase the number of direct flights in future.
Zhang promised shareholders that the profit to be recorded by Baiyun Airport in 2010 would not be below that of 2009.
