NEW DELHI - Air India on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Commonwealth Organising Committee for being the official carrier of the Commonwealth Games 2010.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games will be held between 3 and 14 of October in New Delhi, and will be India’s first major international sports event after the 1982 Asian Games.
“We have been designated official partner of the Commonwealth Games. We would ensure world-class services for the athletes and other members of the contingents, who will come here to take part in the games,” said Arvind Jadhav, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India.
Jadhav further said that Air India would put forth the Indian hospitality to the world and will arrange for special holiday packages for the visiting enthusiasts.
“We are proud to state that we today have embarked on trying to get the youngest fleets equipped with the state of the art technology with an in-flight experience that will compare with the best in the world,” Jadhav said.
“We are also creating holiday packages around with very special rates and all that around this particular event, so that not only the officials but also the large number of people and the spectators who are going to come they would be able to enjoy not only the hospitality of the Commonwealth Games and the Indians but we would like to put forth the Indian hospitality,” he added.
