Asian sides ready to rumble in Singapore

Six Asian women’s rugby national teams will gather in Singapore in November to compete in the region's major annual 7s competition.
Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia (pictured), India, Hong Kong and Japan will compete for the first ever international women's title at the SCC 7s - a major competition in the region that has to now focused on women's club sides.
With the Asian Games in China on the horizon, a number of the sides are putting together their final preparations for the bigger event later in the month.
It's the first time a women's international competition has been held at the SCC 7s where over 7,000 fans are expected to attend with a host of major faces from the men's game also competing.
Indonesia and Malaysia are two of the newer sides on the international scene with India too having emerged as competitors on the 7s circuit in the last year.
Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan are more established in the women's game - all three attempted to qualify for the Women's Rugby World Cup this year - and the Japanese have just recently returned from a UK tour which was organised in an effort to increase the standards of their elite players.
Those three sides will be favourites to fill the top three spots at the SCC event.
The teams will be split into two pools of three on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 November.
Pool games will be played on Friday, with the Cup semis and bowl final taking place in the Saturday morning session. The plate and cup finals will be part of the climax of Saturday's action.
Of the teams competing - all but Indonesia competed at the Asian 7s held earlier this summer in China - where the Chinese were crowned champions.
