Guangdong confirms bidding for 2020 Expo

Guangdong province has applied to hold the 2020 World Expo, a provincial official announced during the inauguration of Guangdong week at Shanghai 2010 Expo on Wednesday, Information Times reported.
Chen Wenjie, who in charge of the provincial Expo affairs, said that Guangdong had been preparing for the bidding and hoped to hold the World Expo in 10 years.
South China's Guangdong province, one of China's economic hubs, is about to host the Asian Games in its capital, Guangzhou, in November.
The Shanghai Expo has accommodated 32.25 million visitors as of July 25. It opened on May 1.
