Asian Games hosting 2nd World Broadcaster Meeting in Guangzhou

The 16th Asian Games, part of the worldwide Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is hosting the two-day World Broadcaster Meeting (WBM) in which nearly 100 representatives of leading TV producers throughout Asia are currently in attendance.
This week’s conference is the second of two WBM hosted by the Guangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee.

The Asian Games are the second largest sports event in the world after the Summer Olympic Games.

The 2nd World Broadcaster Meeting begins in GuangZhou on May 12.
More than 2,500 hours of live programming will be produced by the Guangzhou Asian Games Broadcasting Co., Ltd (GAB) for distribution to TV companies from across Asia and around the world. During this conference, TV producers attending represent billions of viewers including CCTV (China), KBS (Republic of Korea), Doordarshan (India) and NHK (Japan).
“This is the very first time that I’ve been to Guangzhou and we have been impressed with the facilities that the Chinese organisers have created,” said Mr E.S. Isaac, Director of Sports, Doordarshan. He added that his network, which will be giving significant coverage to Cricket which is debuting as a medal sport at the 16th Asian Games, plans to send up to 70 producers, technicians and announcers.
