Moazzen appointed as wrestling coach

KARACHI: Iranian wrestling coach Gholam Reza Moazzen, whose services have been hired by Pakistan till the Asian Games, has started his mission to prepare a fighting lot for the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games to be held in October and November respectively.

This is the second stint of Gholam Reza with Pakistan as under his supervision Pakistani wrestlers hava lifted six gold and a silver medal in the 10th South Asian Games held in Colombo in 2006. He will receive $1600 per month, an official said.

It will be very difficult for the coach to prepare a competitive squad as other countries have been preparing for the big event for the last two years and it would be tougher to compete with them.

Currently, 18 wrestlers are receiving training in the federal capital for the twin events later this year.

Meanwhile, the PWF have also submitted their proposals to the PSB for a foreign trip for the wrestlers ahead of the New Delhi affair.

The PWF also plans to hold an international event in Pakistan at the end of this year for which India, Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan etc will be invited
